An unusual coping strategy

I grew up in Gaza and lived through three separate wars. To escape the harsh reality I was living, I took up CS at the age of twelve. I wanted to be able to make a difference by learning as much as I could in the field of CS. Despite all the hurdles I had to climb, including gaining access to a computer and having only four hours of electricity per day, I managed to teach myself through my drive and detection for the subject. And I saw coding as my path in changing the world for the better. Since then, I've been fascinated by the subject, choosing it as a major. I got a full-ride to study CS in the US, and now am in my junior year.
